ABOUT us

What is a Church for?

Church is a group of followers in Jesus who stay connected and encourage each other in their faith, spiritual growth, and share opportunities to serve.

We are united by three essential beliefs: the authority of Scripture, our salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone, and our belief in the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit

We encourage believers to study their Bibles, know what they believe and why, develop a strong and frequent prayer life, and put their faith in to practice every day.

WHAT TO EXPECT

ON A SUNDAY

Come as you Are…

Most people dress in casual clothes, and others wear t-shirt and jeans. Just come in whatever you feel is comfortable.

It feels like a family...

Like coming home, as soon as you enter the church, you will see groups of people sharing about their week and catching up. We are a family here. The foyer offers coffee and snacks before church to encourage fellowship.

FELLOWSHIP…

Often after church people linger and talk.  Don’t be surprised if you are asked out to lunch with a group of us. We love getting to know you better!

we care for each other…

The time of prayer is for people to share prayer requests for themselves and others.  We often take time to gather around someone who is hurting and take time to pray for their needs.

Pastor's message | sermon from God's word is usually about 30-40 minutes.

We Worship Together...

The service is at 10:30 AM, Most people come early.  The service starts with announcements. People come in and find a seat. Then we have a call to worship, a reading from the Bible.

We begin our time singing worship songs and hymns with kids and adults sitting together. Children may stay with their parents or there is a children's church option during the Pastor's sermon.

Tanwax Country Chapel was a collective effort of a few local people and Village Missions, both with a desire to reach our area with the life-changing gospel of Jesus Christ. It was born in the mid 1980’s. It met in a home, in the local fire department building and came to rest on the Mountain Highway property with the purchase of a mobile home and a 3-stall-pole-barn on just under 5 acres where it still sits today. Our people banded together to serve God and the local community, focusing on simple obedience to the Lord, following scriptural principles, and hoping to share God’s Love with as many people as possible. As the years rolled by, the property has changed. The main building was added in 2000 and the education building was added in 2008. The old pole-barn church building had to be demolished to inhabit the new education building. Things look different but our purpose and perspective remain the same.

God directs us as He desires; the people, the programs, the format etc. continue to adapt to the needs we encounter. We are a diverse group; different backgrounds, different vocations, different social, education and economic levels; but unified with one goal – to honor and glorify God in everything; to mature as believers in Christ; and to be “Good News” to our neighbors. We love to sing, study the bible, eat great food, help others to have a personal relationship with Jesus. We still partner with Village Missions, support mission activities locally and abroad, but have no denominational ties. We are not perfect, but God is (and He is working on us). As Jesus said, “the truth will set you free”.
